Writing Ideas
Writing Idea #1 The Ideas in the Game: Judy and Peter have troubles with a game they found in the park. The game comes to life and turns their house into a jungle, with many different jungle animals appearing in the house. What other things could the game have done? Think of a way the game could have been different, think of how the game could have turned their home into something else and could have brought a different world to them. Sit outside for 10-15 minutes and observe the world around you. Let ideas from what you see provide you with different ideas for a new type of game the characters play. After you have observed create a list of the ideas you came up with for a new type of game.
Writing Idea #2 Changing Environment: Think about how the house changed in the story as Peter and Judy continued to play the game. Think of the details the author put in the illustrations and in the text to help you imagine the changes in the house. What kind of changes would happen to your house if you were Peter or Judy? Think of the different things that changed in the story when the animals and other things showed up and compare it to your home and think of what the animals would do to your home as well. Create a picture using your words of what you believe would have happened if this story took place in your house and replace the characters, Peter and Judy, with yourself and a sibling or a friend. Use as many details as possible and try to make it so the reader feels like they are right there with you when these events take place.
Writing Idea #3 Jumanji: A Adventure Game: Take the list of ideas that you created from writing idea #1 and pick a topic that you came up with. Create another story like Jumanji using the ideas you came up with on your list. Use your words to help create a picture for the reader so that they can truly experience what you are writing.
